Software fast-tracks patients for flu shots

Back in October, people stood outside the Independence Health Department office for hours waiting for an H1N1 flu vaccine. As they shivered, they filled out registration forms, slowing things down. That’s not likely to happen again. Independence has gone digital. The city’s health department is the first in the country to use new computer software from Cerner that does away with most of the paperwork at vaccination clinics and lets people register for shots ahead of time online.
