According to Dr. Mark Hyman, diabesity is a continuum of metabolic disturbances from mild blood sugar and insulin imbalances to pre-diabetes to Type 2 diabetes. This condition affects one in every two Americans (including 40 percent of normal weight people), and can lead to heart disease, cancer and high blood pressure, in addition to diabetes. In a talk at TEDMED 2012, Dr. Hyman discussed this social epidemic and what we can do to prevent it. Watch the video below and let us know what you think.
