Earlier this year, the Upgrade Center achieved a huge milestone by completing its 500th Millennium upgrade since inception in 2005. The Upgrade Center started with a small team of around 20 associates at our Oaks campus in Kansas City. Today, it has a dedicated team of more than 200 experienced associates focused completely on upgrades.

East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) is a 450-bed, state-of the-art community hospital that serves the greater New Orleans region, served by a staff of more than 3,000, including more than 650 physicians. With a focus on patient-centered care, EJGH was recognized with its third consecutive American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet designation and was the first Magnet organization in Louisiana.

At Fort HealthCare, we’ve got plenty of reasons to celebrate. In March, we’re scheduled to receive the highest possible award from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) at its 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans. Reaching Stage 7 is quite an achievement — especially for a relatively small organization like Fort HealthCare.

The HIT Policy Committee recently published its recommendations on Meaningful Use Stage 3 rules. Among the recommendations are new measures and threshold increases from Stage 2. The committee also recommended removing some measures from Stage 3.
