Farrell Sanders, senior vice president and general manager, Cerner ITWorks™, leads the business unit that provides a full suite of strategic and information technology (IT) services to Cerner clients.
He also directly manages Cerner’s major support organizations including Cerner Connect, Application Management Services, the Upgrade Center and SolutionWorks — all of which provide support, management and resolution to complex system issues for clients.
Sanders launched ITWorks, a strategic alignment with clients that helps them advance health and care. He enhanced the clinician support experience by establishing the ITWorks Tier 1 Help Desk. He also sought to better assist clients with their enterprise solutions and pioneered Cerner’s PeopleSoft Upgrade and Application Management practice.
Since joining Cerner in 2003, he has led many quality improvement initiatives, including the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process implementation for CernerWorks™ and the quality improvement plan for Cerner engineering. Both initiatives give clients assurance that Cerner meets and exceeds worldwide standards for service management. In addition, he was the lead executive and designer for the LightsOn Network®, a community of Cerner clients that share best practices to optimize and manage Cerner Millennium® operations.
Moved by a passion for leadership development, Sanders has mentored associates across Cerner. Prior to joining Cerner, he spent 15 years at Accenture. Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Kansas State University.
